(There is) what the ‘Imaam ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jeelaanee said in the book ‘The Enrichment of the One Who Pursues the Truth’ or ‘Al-Ghaneeyah li Taalibee al-Haqq’, page 80:
“And know that it is of the indications by which the People of Innovation are recognized, so an indication of the People of Innovation is their slander of the People of Prophetic Reports (‘Aathar) , and an indication of the Atheists is their designation of the People of Prophetic Reports with the term ‘Hashawee’, seeking to falsify the Prophetic Reports (through such designations),…And an indication of the Jahmees is their designation of the People of Sunnah as Mushabihah, and in fact (the People of Sunnah and Prophetic Reports) have only one name, and it is ‘Companions of Narration’; and there should be no imitating the People of Innovation in declaring these nicknames, just as there should be no imitation of the Disbelievers of Makkah in designating the Prophet, prayers of Allah and peace upon him, with names like ‘Sorcerer’, ‘Poet’, ‘Lunatic’, ‘Possessed’, and ‘Priest’- when no one near Allah, His angels, human beings or Jinn, or anything else in His creation called him but Messenger and Prophet, free of all defamation…”
And look to the book ‘Explanation of the Contradictions in the Narrations’ or ‘Ta’weel Mukhtalif al-Hadeeth’ by the ‘Imaam ‘Ibn Qutaybah, page 55, yes indeed…and look to the witness of the ‘Imaam al-Qaaree in all of that in the book ‘Expansion of the Greatest (Book) of Jurisprudence’ or ‘Sharh al-Fiqh al-‘Akbar’, page 13.
So what will the innovators say in our time about this group? Will they say about them that they are all Hashawees, Mushabihah, Wahhabees?
Since surely they already said that, and indeed they will at some time be judging themselves as the leaders of the Muslims. With what?! Even though they are innovators!!!
I say: It is not strange that they say that; since surely the first to say that word [Hashawee] – just as is mentioned by the historians – was ‘Amriw bin ‘Ubayd al-Mu’tazilee, so indeed he said ‘Abd Allah bin ‘Umar was a Hashawee. So the Mu’tazilees unleashed this term upon the People of Sunnah, first unleashing it against this lofty Companion – may Allah be pleased with him and he with Him…!!!
