And indeed ‘Abu ‘Ubayd al-Qaasim bin Salaam (the Mujtahid ‘Imaam, he heard from Sufyaan bin ‘Uyaynah, ‘Abd Allah bin al-Mubaraak, ‘Abu Bakr bin al-‘Ayyaash, Wakee’, Yahyaa al-Qattaan; ‘Ibn ‘Abee Dunyaa, al-Baghawee, ‘Abd Allah ad-Daarimee, al-Balaathiree, all transmitted from him; his books among which are displays of his mastery in linguists, Fiqh, and rare idioms, were considered as pillars to the schools of ‘Imaam Maalik and ash-Shafi’ee; at-Tabaraanee said, I heard ‘Abd Allah bin ‘Ahmad saying: I read ‘Ghareeb al-Hadeeth’ by ‘Abu ‘Ubayd to my father, and he praised it and said: ‘may Allah reward him with better than it’) he said:

‘The one who clings to the Sunnah is like the one holding onto hot embers, and today, this person is more meritorious to me than the one clashing swords in the path (of Allah).

masha’Allah well its actually a sunnah to be clashing swords feesabililah too but i get the drift as sometimes the simlpe things like following the character of Prophet Muhammed salla Allahu Alayhe wa sallam have a bigger impact than the sword so we make dawah then clash the sword with those who refuse the dawah, but really one of the first things that impressed me about muslims and was totally alien to me was the brothers sitting on the floor sharing a meal from one or two plates and eating with their hands very powerful dawah is that Alhumduillah very humbling too masha’Allah may we be humble slaves of Allah Azza wa Jall ameen
