Shaykh Abu Najm holds a BA and MA in Islamic Studies from an Islamic University, where his master\u2019s thesis focused on al-Awaa’il as-Sunbuliyyah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shaykh is the first Native American Muslim to have status as a traditional elder and as a teacher of Islamic sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numerous traditional ij\u0101z\u0101t (scholarly authorizations to transmit Islamic knowledge) have been granted to Shaykh Abu Najm by recognized scholars, including Shaykh Wal\u012bd bin Idr\u012bs al-Men\u012bs\u012b, Shaykh Q\u0101sim bin Ibr\u0101h\u012bm al-Ba\u1e25r, Shaykh Ya\u1e25y\u0101 bin \u2018Uthm\u0101n al-Mudarris [rahimahu Llahu], Shaykh Ni\u1e93\u0101m Ya\u2018q\u016bb\u012b, Shaykh A\u1e25mad and Shaykh Mu\u1e25ammad al-\u1e24ibsh\u012b, Shaykh Salm\u0101n Ab\u016b Ghuddah, Shaykh Nab\u012bl al-Ghamr\u012b, Shaykh \u2018Abd All\u0101h al-Burn\u012b, and Shaykh Y\u016bsuf al-Mar\u2018ashl\u012b.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the Shaykh’s activities is advising Muslim communities and organizations on organizing administrative and governing structures according to the Fiqh of governance, teaching classical Arabic reading-comprehension, hadith terminology, and authoring Islamic works\u2014including translations and commentaries on Hadith terminology, Prophetic narrations, Fiqh, and Quranic abrogation (naskh)\u2014published under Mihbarah and other presses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
