When he finished clarifying what is obligatory for \u2018Ahl adh-Dhimmah in their residency in D\u0101r al-Isl\u0101m, he set about clarifying what is permissible for them to do in terms of what is related to residency: (And it is not permissible to construct a church or synagogue in D\u0101r al-Isl\u0101m due to his SAWS statement: <\/em>\u201cThere is no castration in Islam nor churches.\u201d<\/em>)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCastration\u201d is with Kasra on the Kh\u0101\u2019 and an elongated \u2018a\u2019 vowel upon the scale of \u201cFi\u2019\u0101l.\u201d It is a verbal noun. The verb \u201cKha\u1e63\u0101hu\u201d means when \u201csomeone removes his two testicles.\u201d \u201cIkh\u1e63\u0101\u2019,\u201d in terms of its meaning, is an error- it is mentioned in al-Mughrib.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The connection between castration and churches is that to construct churches in D\u0101r al-Isl\u0101m is to remove the figurative manhood of the people of its D\u0101r; just as castration is the removal of the manhood of creatures if the castration is physical. If the intended meaning is celibacy and restraint from women by sticking to churches, then the connection is apparent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The intended meaning in his SAWS statement: \u201c\u2026nor churches\u201d<\/em><\/strong> is their construction. So, the denial is with the meaning of prohibition. In other words, \u201cDo not construct churches in D\u0101r al-Isl\u0101m.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The term \u201cKan\u012bsah\u201d of Jews and Christians is used for their places of worship. Likewise, \u201cB\u012b\u2019ah\u201d is general in terms of origins. Then, the use of \u201cKan\u012bsah\u201d became predominant for Jewish places of worship and \u201cB\u012b\u2019ah\u201d for Christian places of worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His statement (Monasteries for the purpose of withdrawal in them are in the position of churches<\/em>), in other words, they are not permitted to construct monasteries in which they also withdraw for worship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Contrary to a place for prayer<\/em>), in other words, the prayer of the Dhimm\u012b (in the home<\/em>). Thus, they are permitted to do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
