Just wanted to share a very interesting ‘athar, or report, found in al-‘Imaam ‘Ibn Hajar al-‘Asqalaanee’s Fath al-Baaree, may Allah have mercy on him- regarding just how many people will escape the Fitnah of al-Maseeh ad-Dajjaal… ‘Ajeeb, it is a relatively small number…

فتح الباري 13\92 وأخرج أبو نعيم في ترجمة حسان ابن عطية أحد ثقات التابعين من الحلية بسند حسن صحيح إليه قال: لا ينجو من فتنة الدجال إلا اثنا عشر ألف رجل وسبعة آلاف امرأة، وهذا لا يقال من قبل الرأي فيحتمل أن يكون مرفوعا أرسله، ويحتمل أن يكون أخذه عن بعض أهل الكتاب

And it came out from ‘Abu Nu’aym in the biography of Hassaan bin ‘Ateeyah, one of the Thiqaat of the Tabi’een, from al-Hilyah, with a Hasan Saheeh chain to him, he said:

“There will not escape from the Fitnah of the Dajjaal except 12,000 men and 7,000 women…”

And this is not a statement from the direction of mere opinion (Ra’ee).
